How to enable hibernate option in windows 8 and 8.1

Did you noticed that Microsoft disabled the hibernate option from Power menu in windows 8 and 8.1 . Microsoft added many new features in its new windows edition. Major of the features are pleasant but some of them are  too  annoying. One of those is the absence of hibernate option in power menu. By default it is not activated in windows but you could manually activate this feature. So in  this tutorial I will tell you how to enable hibernate option in windows 8 and 8.1

What is Hibernate mode in Windows ?

Hibernate is a power off mode which allows us to power off our system and resume it afterwards where we left it . Hibernate writes the content of the RAM on the hard disk before the powering off the system and when the user starts the system it restores the same state of the computer as before the shut down. Hibernate mode uses almost no energy and is very helpful in power saving. To enable hibernate option in windows 8 and windows 8.1 use the following simple step by step guide:-
  • Head over to the system tray and click on the battery icon . From the pop up select the option “More Power Options”.

  • Power option will appear on your desktop screen and click on the option “Choose what the power buttons do” from the left sidebar

  • Click on the option “Change Settings that are currently unavailable” from the System settings window.

  • In the section labeled as shutdown settings check the option hibernate to show this option in power menu. To enable the changes made click on Save changes.

All is done, to check the hibernate option go to power menu from the Charms Bar and you would notice hibernate option along with shut down and restart option

You have successfully enable hibernate option in windows 8. If u want to disable the hibernate option use the same instructions and uncheck the hibernate option in system settings.
